St Mary’s is a leading independent Anglican girls’ school offering education from kindergarten to Year 12.
The Issue
As one of Perth’s most established and exclusive independent girls’ schools, St Mary’s places much value in the inherent strength of its brand, which was established over 80 years ago. As a school community there is an ongoing need to continually encourage two-way communication between current students and their parents. However the competitive nature of the education industry also requires a strategic view to be taken to present St Mary’s to prospective students and parents both locally, from regional areas and also internationally. In order to maintain and build its appeal amongst these markets, St Mary’s initiate communication that supports the organisation as a progressive, contemporary institution underpinned by a long history and proud tradition.
The Solution
Over the 10 years that Equilibrium has been the creative agency for St Mary’s we have been responsible for the school’s design and promotional executions. This has included a wide range of executions including advertising, print materials including brochures and magazines as well as displays and special projects. During this time we have been conscious of the need to continually refine and develop our design concepts to ensure a staleness in presentation is never allowed to pervade the work. In recent times the design of a new school prospectus using both photography and illustration has created a new direction which has been embraced in a number of further design executions including advertisements, printed brochures, displays and promotional materials. Similarly the building of a state-of-the-art performing arts centre provided us with an opportunity to shift somewhat from the established school brand and develop a comprehensive promotional package that allows St Mary’s to effectively market the facility to external businesses and organisations outside the immediate school community.
